Hi Tree and Jessi, hope real life is treating the both of you well. Glad to see the Tree's world server back up for A18 but I do have a question. Any chance of shrinking the map at all? Took the bicycle out for a ride today and did the 30km+ loop from north to south. Only found 6 towns and maybe 10 trails on the whole trip (there were 1 or 2 sideroads so I know there is more out there). There are massive swaths of the map that do not have anything at all on them (towns...trails...poi's...nada). I think this will just encourage people to stay in their town and not explore much which means no pvp. :( There are a few huge bodies of water too (although I love the bridges). Just thought I would throw that out there since there are not a ton of people playing atm and it will take quite a long time for me to track them down and be killed by them :) Hope your week is going well.
Thanks!
Bowmark
Heya Bow,
Sorry for the wait on the response, life has been a bit hectic of late. :)
We're all for a mapwipe after a bit of time, or if an 18.1(etc) drops with major changes or any changes to the random-world-gen.
We've launched this world in full TFP vanilla, so nothing we can do about the water at the moment, maps are taking about 3 hours to generate and all the ones we tried created a 1km lake in the center; forcing the maps into four continents essentially. It looks like rwg is not what it used to be, and unless TFP correct it we may need to look into generating custom maps with third party software to get back closer to the vibe the maps used to have.
On a bright note :) ; There are more towns and pois than meet the eye. I won't say how many have been uncovered or how many there are still yet to be found(I'll post a zoomed out screenshot soon once a bit more is uncovered), but the set up does give a decent illusion that it's more vacant than it is. (Also keeping in mind, i've always modded the rwg to spawn more cities & wild-pois than per vanilla; so this run through has just a good number in comparison to other seeds of vanilla generation as well)
TL;DR to anyone that's not Bow:
This map will stay until TFP patch rwg; or we have the time to go about making a custom world map. Keep exploring, the maps elevation and roads are a bit wonky and make it seem emptier than it is on first glance.
