Minibike Tips (how to recover / prevent loss)

Minibikes:  Your Ticket to Freedom and the Right to say "Sayonara Suckahs !" to the zombies... whether they run or not.

Ten+.

I've lost my minibike at least 10 times (and recovered it) since 16.x.

I've noticed a few things are usually happening when it goes missing or underground and here are my tips for KEEPING your mount.

  • Come to a FULL stop before hopping off.  I know it's fun to jump off while moving but... you're asking for it.

  • DON'T park next to any object that can be acted upon.   Bike might go underground. See next tip.

  • If it DID go underground, calm down and LISTEN for it.  You can hear this strange chugging sound and when you get to where the sound is loudest, dig CAREFULLY around that sound.  If you see the handlebars, you COULD dismantle the bike and then reassemble it above ground.  A major PITA, I know. Throw down a chest if need be.

  • Because the bike sometimes SHOOTS ahead of you (because you didn't come to a full stop and wait 1 second (one-thousand-one..) before dismounting, DON'T park at water's edge facing the lake, stream, etc.  Park parallel to the water.  These are lessons I've learned the hard way.

  • Sometimes logging off and back on again makes the bike reappear.   Server restart not required.

  • STAY the HELL away from TRADER territory.   If it goes underground there, kiss it goodbye.    I park a good healthy distance away and I walk in.

  • Finally, I had my bike go missing one morning.  It went out into the world, apparently, to see the sights and returned a game WEEK? later.   One day... it simply appeared in a nearby town - parked on a random street.  Go figure.

  • The bike icon on the compass dial doesn't ALWAYS work and it sometimes will disappear if you wander too far from it.   If you're in a woodsy area, maybe put a red temp map marker where your bike was parked? (moot if locks are disabled)

Those are my tips.  I hope they spare you the frustration I have had to endure.

  • Hi Tree and Jessi, hope real life is treating the both of you well. Glad to see the Tree's world server back up for A18 but I do have a question. Any chance of shrinking the map at all? Took the bicycle out for a ride today and did the 30km+ loop from north to south. Only found 6 towns and maybe 10 trails on the whole trip (there were 1 or 2 sideroads so I know there is more out there). There are massive swaths of the map that do not have anything at all on them (towns...trails...poi's...nada). I think this will just encourage people to stay in their town and not explore much which means no pvp. :( There are a few huge bodies of water too (although I love the bridges). Just thought I would throw that out there since there are not a ton of people playing atm and it will take quite a long time for me to track them down and be killed by them :) Hope your week is going well. Thanks! Bowmark
  • Hello! I have been playing on your lovely server for some time and about a week ago ran into a very persistent glitch that has been excluding me from your server and about 80% of others as well. I even have a game DEV helping me (SylenThunder) try to assess the glitch, but he needs a copy of the error from the server log and for some reason I AM able to join all of his test servers. Would an admin here be able to send that server log to me or SylenThunder after I fail to join? Thanks in advance.
  • I reffered 3 friends (two of which already joined atm, Hitbyganja and pufflacocote.) Other one is Blindino which will be joining soon. We like this server and decided to move here, nice community, people talking, does not feel lonely and also admin presence, good job on the settings especially with the Lose: Toolbelt only, this makes this game so much better and no pvp realm has it. And walking zombies, thank god, they already ruff enough. Thank you !
