Here we are once again; finding ourselves banging our heads off the wall, waiting for A16 to release. It’s clearly apparent at this time that TFP have missed the early April deadline they set for themselves. The word circulating on the street now, suggests that it’s still another month or so until they open up an experimental version of A16.
To bring new life to the server and hopefully lure some of you drifters back, we are making a few moderate changes to the server to make things more interesting. We will also be launching a prefab competition where players will have the opportunity to get something they have made implemented into A16 in one form or another.
Alpha 16 Release
When A16 launches we will continue to run A15.2 for the first week or two. This allows TFP to work out the onslaught of bugs that occur with most launches, release a hotpatch or two and allow us to to prep our mods to be imported to A16.
Instructions on how to revert your game to previous versions, for those who don’t know how, will be posted in the forums before the launch of A16.
Upon entering into A16 there will be a full map and player-progression wipe. Players’ zcoin balances will zeroed out, but each player can keep a maximum of 20 vote points.
To hold things over ‘till A16 here is what we have going on:
We have made some modifications to the server, the overall zombie spawn has been increased from 60 to 80. The Wastelands have also been buffed up with higher spawn rates and better chances of boss spawns.
Last but not least, I have added “Children” (mini zeds) to the Screamers’/Behemoths’ night spawning cycle. When the Screamer triggers her call during nightfall she will only spawn the new zeds. These little buggers are a lot tougher then you would think and drop some sweet loot. There also may be a few slightly weaker little ones roaming the world as well.
This has been long overdue and we are happy to announce the start of our Prefab Competition. Players will have until the end of May to complete their projects’ and post pictures/videos of them in the forums in the discussion we will be setting up near the end of the month.
All builds must be started on a 2 block high, flat, platform of dirt. You are welcome to create terrain to decorate your build but it must be placed on top of the platform. Builds must equal a total dimension of 150 (i.e. 50x50y50z = 150, 80x20y50z = 150.) X and Z represent your horizontal area where as Y is your vertical. The combination of number you use is completely dependent of the prefab you want to design.
Remember to think logically when designing your build, but don’t sacrifice creativity. After players submit their builds onto the forums the community will then have the opportunity to vote on them and the top three(+?) will be used in A16.
Over the past year Jessi and myself have enjoyed providing so many people with a fun & safe place to play. We started this server not knowing exactly what we were getting into and with absolutely no knowledge of what we were doing. We both took it in stride however and quickly found our way around navigating the game and its files to provide you with a new and entertaining experience.
We started this as a hobby and over a year later we have dedicated thousands of hours and hundreds of dollars to the server. We truly appreciate all of you who take the time to support us and our community. However if you are one of those people who think that we owe you something, we don’t :).
That being said we are always open to feedback and improving the server for the community. Any suggestions are welcome and will be better addressed if sent to us in an email or posted on the forums.
